I kinda like the idea that even basic monsters of your ol’ lores have motivations and reasoning behind their actions, but lately as DnD as well has “evolved” into “but it has some level of human features in it! it has to have the right to vote and you’re a murderer if you even create a minotaur in your story that has already eaten five maidens. not to mention how sexists that is, why wouldn’t it eat perfectly good lads too which i’m not even considering murder for reasons!”
