Now we just hope there won’t be any kind ol’ grandmas with breadcrumbs on the way…
And no, I’m not commenting the voice. Too many possibilities.
The only two possibilities so far that make any sense for the voice that I can see are:
1) Diane, but this seems unlikely as I’ve never heard that she’s a telepath;
2) The Lady of the ‘Shrooms, who IS a telepath and is the only other surviving witness to what happened between herself and Baba – and who had parted with Oswald as friends.
My suspicion about Baba’s real agenda has grown stronger than ever.
This being the Canadian north, it’s unlikely that any human grandmothers with or without breadcrumbs would be around. Flying over New York City where Oswald lives – now THAT could be a problem.
Yes, I suspect Shroom Lady. AND talk about a potent shroom. It causes you to hear voices PRIOR to nibbling on it.
OR it could really be Dofon’s muffled voice by some yet unrevealed magical mean.
Might be Baba as well. Who knows what games she plays.
The “Lady of the Shrooms” has not met Oswald, yet. The “Shroom” he did meet was one “crazy fae” who spoke of “Old ones.”
@Uhl: Go back to where Oswald was still sitting with Dofon and had just heard his tale. Oswald HAS met her before, but in another guise and on another level of existence. He knows who she is and obviously, vice versa. And again, they had parted as friends. Her behavior now is puzzling to Oswald, because this is not the Lady’s behavior as he knew it before.
@Velgar: And you think I’m crazy. Dofon? Extremely unlikely – since when is he a telepath? The Not-So-Great Boo-Boo? We know she can receive, but transmit? The twisted game I suggest on her part is much more likely (even if seemingly improbable on its own terms) and I’d be thoroughly surprised if Baba were intervening now. And so, I suspect, would Oswald.
